Two fathers each sobbed for his own "good kid" yesterday after aWheaton jury convicted an Elk Grove Village youth of murder forsmashing his car into a state trooper.
"You raise a good kid for 27 years and some bum takes him offthe street," sobbed William Kugelman, father of the trooper. "Theverdict can't bring my son back."
"Justice has been done," Kugelman added. "At least we can sleepat night."
Trooper John Kugelman was killed Nov. 10 when David S. Melind,now 18, ran him down on the shoulder of Illinois 53 near Itasca.Kugelman had attempted to stop Melind, who was fleeing police.
