Vic: Man jumps from moving police car, suffers head injuries

A man was airlifted to a Melbourne hospital after suffering head injuries while jumpingfrom a moving police car west of the city late yesterday.

After being arrested at Caroline Springs about 8.30pm, the man kicked out the reardoor window and jumped from the car while it was travelling along the Western Highwayto Melton.

He landed on the road, suffering head and internal injuries and abrasions.

Senior-Constable CRAIG SHARKIE says the man is in a serious, but not life threatening,condition at the Alfred Hospital.
